HeartThreads
For HeartThreads I asked people to consider those they love most, then create a representation with red clay of themselves and white clay of those loved ones. Afterwards they spoke to me about who and what they made, and what those loved ones meant to them. Creations and conversations were uploaded to www.heartthreads.org a digital archive of loving relationships and hub for sharing those relationships with others. I aimed to create an experience where people could look into their hearts and express what was there, pausing in their busy day for creativity, reflection, acknowledgment and sharing. In the end I created a sculptural installation of people’s loving relationships, threading them together as individual groups then into a larger constellation of connection. The installation was exhibited at the Hotel Phillips in Kansas City, Missouri where I was the Artist in Residence for a year.
