As part of Montalvo Arts Center’s day long ArtSplash event, visitors were asked to make a Wishing Flower by considering something they wanted to see grow in the world or inside themselves, customizing a flower with paper and their wish and adding it to the Growing Garden so their wish would grow. Using old buttons and wire, volunteers and I pre-made flower structures that visitors could make their own with paper and words. As wishes were “planted” the Growing Garden grew in intention, inspiration , and scale as it expanded across the lawn.
